4.6% Carlsberg is brewed and bottled in Denmark. Its trademark is a stylish green glass bottle with an embossed pattern.
The Danes were able to enjoy Carlsberg Pilsner for the first time over 100 years ago. On 5 May 1904 at exactly 8:00, a festive procession of 81 horse-drawn wagons left from Carlsberg's brewery on the outskirts of the city and headed for the centre of Copenhagen. The cargo was new Carlsberg Pilsner, the first batch of the brewery's beer bottled in its own bottling plant. Thanks to its new manufacturing method it was light and beautifully foaming. The Carlsberg bottle's front label has remained virtually unchanged for over a hundred years.
Carlsberg Pilsner formed the basis of the Carlsberg company's growth. Carlsberg is now the world's fifth largest brewery group, and its beers are enjoyed in over 150 countries. In 2006 the company sold over 10.1 billion litres of beer, or about 85 million bottles of beer for each day of the year. Carlsberg beers have been available in Finland since 1965.
